4/6/2007 After a two weeks of testing the JA MotorSports Chevy Monte Carlo is ready for the 2007 Race Season. Driver Travis Allen was turning solid 15 second laps at Stateline Speedway on Thur April 5, "The track is still really green (meaning that there hasn't been a lot of cars on it yet and that rubber from the tires has not built up yet) so I am really happy with the way that the car is performing. I definitely think that this is going to be the best year that JA MotorSports has had in a while. With race day only one week away every one at the JA MotorSports camp is excited and ready to get the season under way. Special thanks goes out to Oasis Pub and Eatery for throwing a race season kick off last Saturday the 31st. JA MotorSports and Mr. Jiggs racing meet up at Oasis at about two and enjoyed an afternoon of games, video, slot car races, and a great pot luck to finish up the afternoon. JA MotorSports would like to thank Oasis Pub and Eatery and wish Mr. Jiggs racing good luck for their up coming season.
3/22/2007 It has been brought to the attention to the JA MotorSports staff that we have forgot to mention a very import person involved with JA MotorSports and that person would be Cheryl Allen mother of driver Travis Allen. Cheryl contributes to the JA MotorSports in more ways than monetary value but also with emotional support so we apologies for this error. 3/10/2007 Some of the exciting changes have begun to the web pages as promised. Also this year the Life of a Rookie Driver link needs a new name because Travis is no long a true rookie. This link will now be called Weekly Dairy. The season is quickly approaching so if there is any thing you would like to see more of, just see in general, or any suggestions you my have for the web page. 11/21/06 Travis Allen and JA MotorSports claim Rookie of the Year Honors ! At the 2006 ARCA West awards banquet JA MotorSports brought home the trophies for 4th in points and Rookie of the Year honors. The announcement came that in 2007 the ARCA West Late Model Lite cars will not be returning to ARCA WEST and ARCA West as a whole will be taking a new direction with more announcements coming January 1. JA MotorSports would like to send a special thanks to ARCA West president Richard Michaud for all of his help this year. As well as the other competitors this season and congratulations to Steve Thompson for his sweep in both series. For pictures from the 2006 ARCA West Award banquet click here or use the photos link on the left column. 11/8/2006 JA MotorSports and rookie driver Travis Allen tried there luck at the Pro 4 North West National race and State Line Idaho. A pretty big race for being only Travis's second race of his career. The night started out great with the team securing a spot in the feature with a qualifying run that locked them in at 13th. Starting on the outside pole thanks to the invert Travis and the JA MotorSports team raced to a 12th place finish. Special thanks to everyone that came out and watched the race especially the every one from our sponsor of Oasis Pub and Tavern that showed up to the race. Up after that for the team would be a race down in Yakima, WA. The day started out promising getting a good qualifying time. Followed up by the best performance driver Travis Allen had in his short racing career. The team was sitting in 6th place with two laps to go when Travis lost control of the car and ended up putting it all the way up on the tires that are on the back stretch of the Yakima Speed Way. Which brings us up to the latest race result from the grand re-opening of Spokane Race Way Park. JA MotorSports timed in with a high twenties which was good enough for tenth place in the starting blocks when it came time to race. Starting in the middle of the field Travis drove his way up to fourth at one point until the car got a little bit loose on him setting him back to six. But with a big wreck involving the top three cars. Taking two of them out of the race JA MotorSports and Travis Allen claimed their best finish of the season at fourth. Special thanks goes out to everyone again that attended the race including the Earlscourt family and again our great sponsor Oasis Pub and Tavern.
5/21/2006 The first race is in the books and JA MotorSports and rookie driver Travis Allen claim a 5th place finish in the season opener of the Paul Q ARCA Late model lite series. The #80 car powered it way up to a 6th place qualifying run with a time of 17.41. When the feature started it only went up hill from there. The first half of the race was run under green. When the first caution of the night came up Travis was right on the rear bump of the # 16 car (Bob Winkler). When the green flag dropped again the #80 car took suit. A bobble set Travis back with a 10 laps to go. Shortly after the second caution Travis was able to take the spot right back passing the 43 car to the inside and that is where he would finish up the night in 5th in not only his first race for ARCA WEST but his first race ever. Not bad for a rookie. After the race Travis had some pretty positive words to say about the race and the team. "We couldn't have finished as well as we did if it wasn't for every thing that the team did. Every one played a tremendous role in our success here tonight." "I just want to extend special thanks to my dad, Gary Allen for giving me the opportunity to climb into his seat and letting me race. To my crew chief that just happens to be my Grandpa, Charles Allen. Also to Jake Kleweno and Alicia Wooden for making the trip down with us, Thanks you two helped out allot, we couldn't have done it with out you.
11/27/2005 Well, another year has come and gone for the JA MotorSports team and to be honest, we had a lot more up’s compared to down’s! We ended up taking 4th place in the overall standings (without a couple of things happening to us-would of taken 3rd, possibly 2nd) and took home Rookie of the Year and most Improved Driver of the year awards for 2005. I must say that I wished the awards would’ve said “Rookie Team of the year and most Improved Team of the year” in that without each and every crew member and sponsor, I would’ve in no way received these awards let alone finishing 4th in the standings. The team won all the awards and I can’t thank them enough for the time and energy they all put in to the race season as well as in the off season. With the coming of a new season, a few changes will take place and I will let you know what they are now. My son, Travis Allen, will be taking over the driving duties for most of the up coming season. No, I haven’t retired, just will be letting him take over for most of the season but I will drive 2 to 3 races also. In addition to the full time driver change (for the most part) we have at least one new crew member joining us for the new season and his name is Jacob Kleweno, a good mechanic that is young and willing to learn. (plus, I won’t have to change tires anymore with him joining our team-has to pay his dues) With this addition (Jacob) and my role as spotter for Travis, I am looking forward to the up coming season and truly feel we will have even more success than last year. As you can see by the new link we have added, Travis will be writing about each and every race he is in next year. What went right, what went wrong, a racing experience update by a true rookie that should be not only informative but very interesting for any one that is thinking about getting into a race car. During the off season, Travis will be updating this link with what is taking place with JA MotorSports about once every other month. Not only will we be checking to make sure nothing is broke on the car, we will be adding some new things to the car as well as re-painting the car. (got banged up last season) So, in about 2 months, check out the new link and find out how far we have progressed and what we are planning on doing/left to complete on the car. I would like to thank everyone that came in and opened up the JA MotorSports web page and hope you continue to do so not only in this off season but throughout the up coming race season. Sincerely; Gary Allen Driver/Spotter JA MotorSports #80
