A night of 1st for the JA MotorSports team @ SCR

JA MotorSports claims 1st win since 2004

9/14/09

It was a night of first Saturday September 12 at Spokane County Raceway. It was the first time that the team had the 88 car on the track even though it had the number 80 on it, since the team needed to use the 88 car as a back up due to the events that took place at South Sound Speedway. For the first time in 4 years and the first time in driver Travis Allen career the team set fast time with a 20.90. The team also captured its first main event win since the 2004 season. The win also being Travis Allen's 1st career victory.

The race came down to the wire as Lonnie Stocker in the 99 and Travis Allen put on a great show for the fans with Allen just edging Stocker by about a nose. Dan Bidwell finished a respectable 3rd in the race.

The next race will be the season finally for the NW Late Model 4's at State Line Speedway this sat the 19th, were JA MotorSports is in a close second to 3K racing Kameron McKeehan for the title. With the championship coming down to the final race it will be the a race not to miss. For more information visit www.raceidaho.com

JA MotorSports takes to the track for the two day finally of the NW Pro 4 Alliance at South Sound Speedway

9/5/09

JA MotorSports wraps up what has been a good season with the NW Pro 4 Alliance this weekend over at South Sound Speedway in Rochester, WA. The alliance will be having a two day event, with the awards banquet sun night. Saturdays race will be 100 lap main even with the Sunday race being a 75 lap main.

The team will be running two different tire combinations this weekend. American Racers will be used for Saturday nights feature event and for Sundays the team will be going back to the Hoosiers. This is because the NW Pro 4 Alliance has put a 6 new tire rule on for the weekend and only running the American racers one previous time the team opted to run the Hoosier take offs for Sundays race having a bigger selection to choose from.

Nearly live coverage of both days event will broadcasted with near live coverage at the alliances website www.NWPro4Alliance.com

The teams next race will be next weekend Sept 12th at Spokane County Raceway for more information visit www.SpokaneCountyRaceway.com

Another top 10 finish for JA MotorSports in the Pro 4 alliance

8/13/09

The JA MotorSports team started the weekend off with nothing but questions but would soon find some good answers. Would the American Racer tire be as good as everyone said it would? Would the new hood help the team pick up on the stop watch? Could the team get over their qualifying woes and get a good starting spot for the NW Pro 4 Alliance 75.

A 14.076 qualifying time answered a couple of those question with the team ending up 9th quick on the night. Was a good sign of things to come for the team later in the night. The view must have been different for driver Travis Allen starting on the 5th row instead of the teams normal spot which was always 9th of 10th row. The main started out just like the qualifying had gone. The team was bad fast picking off car by car on their march to the front. Until about lap 30 when driver Travis Allen just kissed the wall knocking the rear end out of square and forcing Allen to battle an ill handling car for the next 45 laps. With formal Alliance winning John Grosvenor just barely getting by the team with two laps to go it put the JA MotorSports team in for an 8th place finish after a long battle with veteran Kenny Chandler.

The teams next race with be the season finally for the NW Pro 4 Alliance labor day weekend as the team heads for Tenino, WA to see if they can stay in the hunt for a top 5 points position.

See you at the races.

JA MotorSports to take to the track with the best in the North West for round three of the NW Pro 4 Alliance!

JA MotorSports claims 3rd place finish at SCR

7/12/09

JA MotorSports brings home a 3rd place finish in the second of three NW Late Model 4's race at Spokane County Raceway. The team started out with one of the best qualifying efforts of the year. The team picked up 2 tenths from what they were running in practice which is a nice improvement. Starting outside front row in the trophy dash and was able to get a quick jump on the 02 Paul McCarthy but the 41 of Kameron McKeehan was on a rail and passed to the team on the outside, putting the team in second place as the 41 went on the win the dash.

The heat race brought on new challenges for the team starting second row inside, making it tricky to get to the front. The 02 of Paul McCarthy was just barley able to edge out driver Travis Allen at the checkered flag.

The Main had a different look to it the team was able to get to a great start passing two cars before the first lap was completed. The rest of the main saw Travis Allen trying to track down the 41 of Kameron McKeehan and the 20 of John Jackson as the two battled it out up front. The team was able to make up some ground but with only the main only being 15 laps. There was just not enough time to get up there and challenge for win.

Next race will be Aug 8th for the 3rd Race in the NW Pro 4 Alliance series

Also JA MotorSports would like to Congratulate Kameron McKeehan and 3K Racing for their 1st INSSA race win last night.

JA MotorSports claims a 3rd place finish in second main at South Sound

7/5/09

Going into the weekend the JA MotorSports team had high hopes for a good finish this weekend over in South Sound Speedway for the Firecracker Dual 30's. The team continued to be consistence in their qualifying efforts and did not lay down the lap that they were looking for; But the team would rebound very well starting second row outside for the first of the dual mains and was running second mid way thru the race when driver of the 72 Terry Rennick made a poor decision and got into the back of driver Travis Allen causing a pile up that would eventual take two cars out for the evening including Rennick himself. The woes continued for the team in the first main when on a re start the 14 of Shelby Minor-Ball broke a crankshaft, with no where to go Allen ran in to the back of her sending her spinning into the infield. The team avoided another wreck on the last lap when 28 car spun coming out of 4 Allen and the 02 of Dan Hale had to lock on the breaks to avoid hitting him.

After some great work by the JA MotorSports crew, at the break the team was able to reattach the rear quarter to the bumper pad as well as hammer on the front nose and straighten that out a bit. After the toe was re- aligned the team was back out for the second main and ready to go.

Starting the Second main from the pole the team was able to get a great start when the green flag dropped and lead 12 of the shorten 20 lap feature. But Last year NW Pro 4 Alliance Rookie of the Year the 9 of Cody Stewart was able to by Allen and track record hold the 5 of Wayne Dillon made a great move with 5 to go to get around the outside. Holding off a late charge by the 02 of Dan Hale the team was able to bring home a 3rd place finish. After passing post race tech it made it official.

The next race for the team will be next week July 11 at Spokane County Raceway. For more information visit www.SpokaneCountyRaceway.com

JA MotorSports claims 2nd top 10 in NW Pro 4 Alliance

6/21/09

JA MotorSports brings home 7th place in the Yakima. The team was looking forward to the First Day of Summer 60 the second race with the NW Pro 4 alliance. The night started out with a little bad racing luck with the team loosing a rear axle seal during the 1st hot lap session. With a little elbow grease from team mechanics Jake Kleweno and Jenna Savall, some advice for Kevin McKeehan and a seal from John Jackson, the team was back out for the last hot lap session and ready to do battle with the finest drivers in the Northwest.

With a slower than expected qualifying lap put the team in the last qualified spot in for the main at 20th but the team still felt confident in the race set up and took the green flag with high expectations. Keeping the nose clean driver Travis Allen was able to get around Kurt Madsen and Rob Powers with in the last 5 laps to bring home a seventh place finish.

The teams next race will be Saturday July 11th at Spokane County Raceway for a warm up race to the July 18th NW Pro 4 Alliance race.

JA MotorSports claims trophy dash, comes up little short in the main

6/14/2009

Despite only having four cars show up for the third race of the 2009 North West Late Model 4's season, three of the teams are top 10 teams in the North West so the fans were still in for a great show. Starting front row outside when the green flag dropped the team jumped out to a quick lead and held on to the lead for the majority of the race until the 20 car of John Jackson got into driver Travis Allen coming out of turn four with only 6 laps to go. The team was not able to rebound from the spin and ended up finishing 3rd in the main.

Despite morning problems team takes a 2nd place finish at State Line Speedway

The woes continued for the JA MotorSports team Saturday morning with the car on the trailer ready to go. Team mechanic Jim Potts went to double check the timing when the starter exploded sending derbies into the bell housing off the transmission. The team had to unload the car get it on jack stands and pull the tyranny. Team engine builder Andy Campbell rushed to the shop to make sure every thing else was ok. After a good once over the team headed to the track.

Fighting a tight in the center of the corner problem JA MotorSports was able to have second quick time to Kameron McKeehan in the 3K racing machine how timed in at a 14.030. Starting second row inside the proved to be a difficult starting spot with only four lap in the trophy dash finishing third with Tyler Bailey out of Meridian ID bringing home the win.

In the 15 lap main event it was a battle of three cars for the win between Kameron McKeehan , Tyler Bailey and JA MotorSports driver Travis Allen. With Kameron jumping out to an early lead left a great battle for second between Tyler Bailey and Travis Allen with Allen getting the upper hand on the last lap making it three wide coming out of turn two to claim the second position. 5/16/2009

Last night during testing at Spokane County Raceway the JA MotorSports 80 team had a keeper fall of the motor eventually leading to a damaged cam and a bent valve. Team Engine builder Andy Campbell did his best to get the team on the track for tonight's race, but too many variables that could have lead to worsening the condition of the motor forced the team to make the decision to not risk it and there by forgoing the race.
