JA MotorSports 80 Archives Weekly Dairy
4/16/07 Weekly Diary Hello every one, hope every ones week was good. As you all know by now the road to the checked flag has been delayed by good old mother nature. Our season opener has now been delayed for another two weeks. I get to climb in to the car on Thursday and do some more testing at Stateline speedway. I spent my Sunday with my dad Gary Allen and girlfriend Jenna Savall at the race car shop tidying up. Anyone that knows anything about the JA MotorSports race shop would know that it could use a bit of organization. So the three of us put up some peg board to help get the tools organized as well as getting most of those nuts and bolts sorted out. Until next week everyone have a good one and make sure to check out the new JA MotorSports merchandise. Travis Allen #80 Driver JA MotorSports

Needless to say that I am very excited to get back behind the wheel of the JA MotorSports #80 Chevy Monte Carlo. This past week I have been spending a lot of nights at the race car shop finishing up the final prep on the car before we take it to the paint booth next Saturday the 10th. I also have to take the time to give a special thanks to my manager Megan Olsen, for letting me have the time off from work this year to be able and go racing. Also official JA MotorSports schedules are now available at both sponsors the Oasis Pub and Eatery at 14913 E Trent AVE and Mobil 1 Lube Express Valley Auto Lube at 14704 E. Sprague. Make sure to stop by and get your official schedule and make sure to support our sponsors because with out them we couldn't be doing what we love to do. 2/18/2007 Time is flying by, we are bout one month away from getting on the track our selves, but to any race car fan the NASCAR season begins today for the Daytona 500. We are looking forward to the season and I am excited to get behind the wheel of our JA MotorSports Chevy Monte Carlo. With the addition of a couple of new crew members and the addition of our new sponsor Mobil 1 Valley Auto Lube, I am looking forward to a great race season ahead. The crew and I are starting to finish up the body work on the car with paint hopefully being applied the week before our first practice, I would also like to thank Jenna Savall for all of her hard work on helping get the car ready for the 2007 race season. Also I would like to thank everyone in advance for all the hard work that they have and will put in to JA MotorSports because without them we could not be doing what we love. So THANK YOU. 11/18/2006 "Rookie of the year, yes I can't believe it!!!" That is what was going through my head as I walked back to our table after being announce the 2006 ARCA West Paul Q Late Model Lite Rookie of the Year. This had been a goal that I was shooting for since we started testing in late April this year. Following the foot steps of my dad and getting the rookie of the year title was something that was on the back of my mind the whole entire racing season. But I really owe every thing to every one that helped out in any way shape or form with this team during the 2006 season. With out the help of them none of this could have been possible. With out them we couldn't have even gone racing let alone win Rookie of the Year honors. I would like to give a special thanks to my dad Gary Allen who was generous enough to step aside from the driving world and let me try my hand in the race car world; not only was he the best spotter in the series, he was also a great mentor and help me speed up the learning curve of being a true rookie. Another special thanks has to go out to my grandpa Charles Allen who was willing to take a risk on me, by letting a true rookie driver take over the seat of the family race car that was being driven by one of the best drivers in the Northwest he took a big risk on me and for that I thank you. Other that deserves special thanks would be Jim Potts for all of the help he provided through the season and continues to provide. Andy Cambell for building a great power plant. Jerry Zumwalt for all of your help this season. Frankie Voltz JR. for all the help setting up the car so I could go racing. Scott Thomas for all of the help through out the season. Jake Kleweno and his fiancée Alicia for making the 13 hour drive down to Roseburg the first race of the year to help out with pit crew. To my best friend Kelly Maguire for putting up with me through out the season will all of the highs and lows that come with the business of racing. My mom Cheryl Allen thank you for all of your help financial and emotionally. Can't forget my bosses at OZ Fitness Megan Olsen and Drew Gaskell thanks for all of your corporation during all of those times I had to change the schedule on you; and thanks to every one else that helped in any way at all this season with out you all this could have never been possible. Sorry there is too many to name individual but thanks to everyone. Rookie of the Year, woo hoo. Travis Allen Driver #80 JA MotorSports
11/8/2006 Driver Travis Allen had a great rookie season only finishing out of the top ten in two races this year. Finishing 4th in the points only 210 points out of first was a great accomplishment for JA MotorSports. 5/20/2006 Well now the first one is out of the way. It is a relief, it was so nerve racking, sitting in the waiting to go out for the main event. But, now I can't wait to get down to Yakima and do it all over again. My first race was more than I could hope for the team did a great job getting the car set up. Allowing me to just focus on learning the track and getting seat time. We timed in pretty well and from there things just went up hill. Once the race started we were able to dodge a few wrecks and keep the car in one piece and grab a top five in our first race of the year. So I can't ask for anything else than that. I just also want to send a thank you to every one from the team that made the long haul (about 12 to 13 hours) to help the team out. Charles Allen none of this would be possible with out your support so thank you. Gary Allen thank you for giving me to opportunity to race and for being a great spotter. Jake Kleweno thanks for driving down in the middle of the night to come help us out. Alicia thank you for coming down with Jake and taking all of the great pictures. Also even though he was not able to make the trip due to work, thanks Kelly Maguire for helping us getting ready for the track. With out all of you this couldn't happen so thank you all.
12/5/2006 First and foremost I would like to say welcome. This year should be an exciting one from all angles. One, it will be exciting for me being a true rookie trying to make a name for myself in the world of racing. While trying to live up to the greatness that my dad, Gary Allen, left me. Second, this year should be exciting for everyone that checks back to this site periodically to get the perspective of a true rookie in one of today's most elite racing divisions in the North West, ARCA Late Model Lites. In this column, "Life of a Rookie Driver" I will be discussing some of the day to day things that I will be encountering. Also keeping you the fan updated on any new development with the team as the year progresses. I will do my best to keep this section updated as much as I can to make sure we can stay current with all the information that you the fan wants. So lets get the column going already. Some of the major things that have been going on since the break, is that if you have been following the site you would already know but we got a new sponsor for the 2006 season the Oasis Pub & Eatery; they are going to be a great addition to our already get sponsor line up. It's great to have them alone for this year and hopefully many years to come. As far as crew members go. Adding my cousin Jake Kleweno shows some early luck for the team. Jake is very talented when it comes to turning a wrench and is eager to learn the tricks of the trade in the race car world. Another possible crew member which hasn't been finalized yet, but hopefully soon is a young man named Kelly Maguire. Kelly would bring a lot of knowledge to the tires and tuning side; having worked at Discount Tire and Pro-Formance Lube Castrol. Hopefully all goes well and we can make Kelly a full time member of the JA MotorSports team. As far as the car itself goes, work has begun to get the car for it new face lift. The long process of sanding has begun and will hopefully end soon. :) And if all goes well we can have the car in the paint booth within the next couple of weeks. Well that is what I have for now stay tuned for up to date information on the life of a Rookie Driver.
